Love visiting here the hides are very good to obverse the wildlife also the weir is on the salmon run great at the right time of year a good walk from newtown but well worth the effort
Great walks for animal owners well anyone
I bet most people drive past the lake without realising it is there. From the car park take the path clockwise around the lake to reach the hide - glorious view of the lake, with many birds (both native and migrating) to see. There are also a couple of picnic benches (under shelter) if you take the path in the other direction from the car park.
Great little stop off on a journey. Good leg stretch and lovely picnic spot. Only downside is that there were no bins, and some users can't be bothered to pick up their dog's turds.... mind where you step.
Llyn Coed Y Dinas is a small nature reserve nestled between the bypass and old road to Welshpool. There is a large, well kept bird hide overlooking the man made lake. There is also a large meadow area, with perimeter walk, seating area and "dipping pond".The hide is decorated with informative murals, and may be a good place to bring children.There is a reasonably sized car park but pulling back out to rejoin the main road is difficult as visibility to the right is very poor.
